German troops during Operation Barbarossa in WWII. Nazis tried invading Soviet Uniot through northern Finland, but some things went wrong... The Germans were tortured by mosquitos, they got lemmingfever (sopulikuume in finnish, couldn't find proper translation), they couldn't use their tanks 'cause there weren't any roads, then the winter came and according to some records, there were -54 degrees celsius at some point in Salla that year.
